Wandering Wednesday

Here are a couple pictures of Kyle enjoying the move entirely too much! Btw - don't worry about the biohazard and dry ice hazard labels on the boxes, I work in a lab so the boxes have the labels from the previous contents. I promise I am not endangering the SO, Kyle or myself!

He looks a little happy for once!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I'm still alive!

Yes I am still alive!

We are still busy (the SO and I). Between the move, peep's wedding, SO's dad in surgery and yet more unpacking, we've been a little busy! Also another bummer; we don't have internet. Okay, that's not completely true, we do have internet but it's not wireless. And I have issues with being tethered to the wall....

So until the SO figures out how to get the router to recognize our internet I only have access while I'm at work. And technically I really shouldn't do what I'm doing right now - writing my blog at work. Oh well!

I'll leave you with this....

What is that?!?!? No not the SO (yes he is doing dishes, I have him so trained). But that thing on the wall?! Here is a close up:
I had to ask the SO what it was while unpacking the kitchen. Apparently they used to have these things called telephones that hooked up to your wall in your house. AND, these phones were placed in central locations, like this one in the kitchen, so the whole family had access to the telephone.

Can you tell I've basically grown up with a cell phone in hand?!
I hope to start knitting again soon... I just need to finish unpacking a bit. Hope to have some updates on the crafty front soon!

Wandering Wednesday

Hey!

The SO and I are in the process of moving to a new apartment, about a mile down the road from our current one. My Internet is down for the next few days. As such I'm writing this quickly at work to tell you I'm just wishing you a great Wednesday.

Next week I'll have something better. Wish me luck on the move!

New FO!

I have been knitting! See!

I finally finished my new arm warmers and here they are....

Lacy Arm Warmers
Pattern: Own creation!
Yarn: Mandarin Petit by Sandnes Garn
Needles: 2.75mm
Started: June 6, 2009
Finished: July 6, 2009

So is it an oxymoron - Lacy Arm Warmers? Well even if that is contradictory, they still keep my arms warm. But between the lacy pattern and the yarn is light so they are not too warm. So pretty much perfect if you ask me! I wore these babies to work today and of course I got lots of crap from the labmates. But it's okay... I love these things!

Wandering Wednesday - Update

So how are you doing with your 3/50 Project goal? It's been a month since I posted a description of the 3/50 Project here on the blog. Rest assured, the SO and I have definitely met our goal (mostly from eating out... what can I say, I don't cook much!).

Cute story... this past Friday the SO and I decided to hit a local breakfast diner, Sunrise Diner. I've been there once, but the SO had never been. Wicked cute place with all types of nostalgic items crammed on everything, the windows, walls and doors. The best part... the SO and I walked in to a group of about 10 older gentlemen singing barbershop quartet style songs! They were there eating their Friday morning breakfast, enjoying each others company and just broke out into random song! It was like we were taking a step back to the 1950's. It was really heartwarming. A wonderful way to start our day. And that only happens at a place like that. A cute, local diner, run by local people for local people. Did you meet your 350 goal last month? Never too late to keep going!

Knitspiration - Knitted Village

Look at what the tiny village of Mersham (in the UK) has been up to!

A group of women belonging to a group called the Afternoon Club, have spent the last 23 years knitting a replica of their village!

An article can be found here. The article has more pictures of the town. There are even pictures of the actual houses/businesses and the knitted version. The article also shows a picture of some of the women responsible for this project. Very ambitious, but very much worth it to these ladies. Kudos to them! I'm not about to go and knit a replica of Purdue University campus anytime soon (although that would be cool)... but this is Knitspirational indeed!

Knitspriation

I'm thinking about starting another consistent blog post on "Knitspiration!"

Still not quite sure how or when I will start this. I'm thinking about "Knitspiration! Mondays" or maybe Tuesdays. Or maybe just randomly posted when I see something that is Knitspiring.

So stay tuned for the next (well first) Knitspiration! blog post.

Wandering Wednesday

Happy July! It's the Dog Days of Summer... what are you going to do to stay cool?

The twin towns of Lafayette and West Lafayette, Indiana are doing a community art project to bring together the communities, The Dog Days of Summer. A while back they had local artists decorate dog statues and these dogs have been on display throughout downtown areas of both towns. At the end of the summer the dogs will be auctioned off, all proceeds going back to the local community. Here are some of the dogs on display (I believe there are over 40!).
And my fav... A dog replica of Amelia Earhart that was in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering.
Just thought I'd share that with you today for our Wandering Wednesday. Try to stay cool!

And of course, Happy Birthday to Canada!
